Leonie was born in 1956 in Inverell area, New South Wales where her people still occupy much of that area.
Many of her family were artists and Leonie started painting from young age following the example of her mother’s artworks.
Her family was part of the stolen generation where families where broken up and the children put in foster homes.
Leoni is amongst the new talented and successful generation of Aboriginal artists.
She uses many medium to depict her art on canvas, didgeridoos, pottery and wood just to name a few.
Her paintings depict her family life and Aboriginal heritage that comes from her inner self.
